Creating a drag and drop Zoom Transition in Davince Resolve 16.2

Transitions in Resolve just took a major step forward with Fusion transitions as you can finally make drag and drop transitions of your own in fusion. In my first ever, could be planned better, tutorial video – I make a drag and drop fusion transition to do the zoom transition effect. After making it, it’s re-usable time and time again like any other transition. Finally! (or if you just want to get the effect then the download details are at the end of this text!)

For those watching the video. Next time I’ll plan a bit better! But the formulas used are:

Merge Blend: math.floor(ResolveParameter.NumberIn1 + 0.5)
First Clip Size: 1 + (ResolveParameter.NumberIn2 * 4)
Number in 2: 1 – (1 / (1 + ((NumberIn1 / ( 1 – NumberIn1 )) ^ NumberIn3)))

If you just want to download it: save this file

to the following folder

C:\Users\###your user name###\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Transitions

and restart Davinci Resolve.
